Dad’s Baby Back Ribs Dry Rub Recipe

Description

Rub for baby back ribs and cooking instructions.

The rub may also be used on pork butt, etc.

Ingredients
1 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
4 1/2 Tablespoons Paprika
2 1/4 Tablespoon Salt
3 Teaspoon Black Pepper (optional)
3 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
(For Instant Pot method) 1 Cup of water and 1 Tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar

Instructions
1. Combine all the dry ingredients. This makes enough rub for approximately 3 racks of baby back ribs.
2. Apply rub generously to both sides of the ribs. Wrap in foil (oven) or Ziplock bag (Instant Pot), and marinate overnight.
3. For the oven method, bake ribs in the oven (wrapped in foil) at approximately 250 degrees for 6 - 8 hours on a baking sheet.
4. For Smoking, smoke 3 hours, wrap in foil with butter, brown sugar, syrups, etc. Finish in 250 degree oven for 3-4 hours.
5. For the Instant Pot method, add the water and cider to the bottom of the pot in the Instant Pot. Place the trivet into the pot, and the ribs on a pressure safe dish. Set for 40-45 minutes high pressure, and use natural pressure release.
6. Cut ribs into serving sized portions, and cover with barbecue sauce just before serving. Can be caramelized under a broiler or on the barbecue if desired.
